Pierrot Damien Massi, Chanaël Mendrowski, Sabrina Henry and Dominik Longchamps, students of the International Criminal and Humanitarian Law Clinic at Université Laval, have the pleasure to announce that the Customary International Humanitarian Law Database (CIHLD) of the International Committee of the Red Cross  (ICRC) has been chosen as the first recipient of the Jus Gentium Research Award by the American Society of International Law’s International Legal Research Interest Group (ASIL ILRIG). This award recognizes non-commercial online databases freely available to the international law community as well as to the public at large, acknowledging important contributions in the area of providing and enhancing open access to legal information resources in international law.

The International Criminal and Humanitarian Law Clinic at Université Laval contributes to the update of the practice part of this Database. Since September 2014, under the direct supervision of Professor Julia Grignon, the team in charge of this project reviews international practice of relevance to customary International Humanitarian Law. This includes inter alia the analysis of judgments of the International Court of Justice, international criminal case law, or resolutions of the main UN bodies.

Congratulations!
